Hello! I am an Associate Professor at Mount Royal University, cross-appointed in the departments of Biology and General Education. My scholarly interests include the sensory control of balance and the ways students make sense of science in their lives and as learners.
Before joining MRU in 2018, I completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Neuroscience (2016-2018) at the University of Calgary under the supervision of Dr. Zelma Kiss. I earned my BSc in Human Kinetics (2005-2009), and PhD in Neuroscience (2009-2015) at the University of Guelph, supervised by Dr. Leah Bent.
In 2015, I completed the Space Studies Program at the International Space University, where I specialized in human performance in space, and developed a lasting interest in physiology in extreme environments.
Nick is a passionate educator and researcher,
